Dear Friends,
BILL ALERT – House Bill 1442
Clarification
Earlier I sent you a note with the letter below. The handwritten note came to me from the ranking Republican who was told the information by the chair of the House Health Care and Wellness Committee. He wrote down the information on the note as it was told to him. So that's HIS handwriting. Nevertheless, he confirms the information he wrote is exactly what she told him and why she will not grant a hearing. I wanted to make sure this is clear to all who read the letter below.
Thanks!

Dear friends and neighbors,
I have received word from the chair of the House Health Care and Wellness Committee that a hearing will not be scheduled on House Bill 1442. The measure would require parents to be notified in advance of their minor child undergoing an abortion in case there are medical complications.
The reason given by the chair is she believes girls over the age of 14 who become pregnant are considered “emancipated – independent.” The chair, a Democrat, sent word to me through our ranking Republican on the committee that she would not allow a hearing on the measure. This effectively kills the bill.
See the e-mail I sent below and the handwritten response.
I need your help. If you share the same concerns as I do about this bill being halted before the public can have its say, I invite you to call the toll-free legislative hotline at 1-800-562-6000. Leave a message for the chair of the House Health Care and Wellness Committee, asking her to reconsider and schedule a public hearing on House Bill 1442. Or you may e-mail your request by clicking here.
The health and safety of children are at risk under our current law. This is too important an issue to ignore. So please act today.

Thank you for the honor of allowing me to serve you!
